First and foremost,
I appreciate your engagement with my work and the love and support you have given me on my artistic journey. You all make it much more fun:)
So, what is this?
I wanted to put my effort into something that escapes the scope of social media… from incessant posting, liking, and sharing… Which are all things that I am realizing I need to do if I want people to see my artwork. It’s a battle within itself, and truthfully, I am having a hard time coming to terms with that.
As I yearn for something tangible and raw, things seem to be quickly and effortlessly moving towards the opposite. Each day, more ideas circulate than the day before, people have more to say and project, and it is easy to get swept up in the matrix.
This letter and the many that will come after are part of A devotion to an Act, to a way of Being.
Welcome to MAXIMA, a shortened version of a fundamental idea I have created and will speak to as the newsletter goes on.
If you are wondering how often you’ll receive a newsletter, to put it simply, I intend to release a newsletter when the intuition strikes, much like how I approach the work of a painting. There is no delaying.
MAXIMA is an extension of my art practice, and it will be treated as such.
MAXIMA will initiate the artistic spirit that I know lives inside all of you. It goes without saying that understanding art can be cumbersome… but it doesn’t have to be. What you’ll experience here is a bohemian crash course in all things art.
This is what I love to do. Don’t be shy. Ask questions. Be relentlessly curious. Let’s build the foundation for something that transcends what we know. We are not here to do what has already been done.
I mean it when I say it, thank you for being here.
I would love to hear from you. Respond with a piece of art that is striking to you… and a bit about why you like it. Would love to know more about the art that makes an impact in all your lives.
MAXIMA is a devotion.
See you next time,
ELI
